Directions
  • Start your permanent vinyl design by designing your artwork using graphic design software compatible with your cutting machine. Once your design is ready, load the permanent vinyl into the cutting machine with the backing side down and the colored vinyl side facing up. Adjust the machine settings based on the type of vinyl being used, ensuring the blade cuts through the vinyl layer without slicing into the backing. Perform a test cut if necessary to confirm the settings are correct.
  • After cutting, use a weeding tool to carefully remove the excess vinyl, leaving only your design on the backing. Cut a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than your design and apply it over the vinyl. Smooth it down firmly with a squeegee or credit card to ensure the vinyl adheres well to the tape. Peel the backing off the vinyl slowly, making sure the design transfers completely onto the transfer tape.
  • Prepare the surface where you want to apply the vinyl by cleaning it thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or residue. Place the transfer tape with the vinyl design onto the surface and smooth it down, applying firm pressure to ensure the vinyl sticks securely. Use a squeegee or your fingers to press down on the design, working from the center outward to eliminate air bubbles.
  • Once the vinyl is applied, carefully peel off the transfer tape at a sharp angle, ensuring the vinyl remains adhered to the surface. Allow the vinyl to cure for 24–48 hours for the adhesive to fully bond, especially for outdoor or frequently handled items. Your permanent vinyl project is now ready to enjoy!
Materials & Care
  • Permanent vinyl is made from a durable PVC (polyvinyl chloride) layer, designed to withstand outdoor conditions such as rain, UV exposure, and heat. It features a strong, pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back that ensures a secure, long-lasting bond to smooth surfaces like glass, metal, plastic, and wood. The adhesive is protected by a backing paper or plastic layer, which makes the vinyl easy to cut and peel for precise application. Permanent vinyl is available in various finishes, including glossy, matte, metallic, and holographic, making it versatile for a wide range of projects.
  • To maintain the durability of permanent vinyl, clean the applied surface gently with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbing tools, as these can scratch or lift the vinyl. For outdoor applications, the vinyl is weather-resistant, but avoid excessive exposure to extreme heat or chemicals to preserve its adhesive strength and appearance. Permanent vinyl is not recommended for dishwasher use unless explicitly labeled as dishwasher-safe. Regular care will keep the vinyl looking vibrant and securely adhered for years.
